TRUSTMARK

The Trustmark is a distinctive granted by the Association of Internet MX elong to companies, organizations, institutions and individuals identified and committed to generating trust online. It is an image that when you click it, displays the information of the organizations and individuals that own that website, which have been evaluated and comply with the requirements of the Association of Internet MX.

HISTORY

In 2005, Mexico held the chairmanship of the Electronic Commerce Management Group at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) through the Economic Secretariat. As existed no law that regulates the protection of personal data between individuals in our country, a mechanism was thought to promote the trust of Internet users in Mexico in this matter, based on the APEC Privacy Framework. This is how the Association of Internet MX in direct collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, through the Program for the Development of the Software Industry (PROSOFT), and in its effort to promote the best online practices in Mexico, created and executed the project Trustmark AIMX, a self-regulatory mechanism in privacy matters, mainly focused on the digital market. Therefore, the Association of Internet MX formally launched the Trustmark AIMX scheme in 2007 with the aim of fostering the confidence of Internet users in the management of their personal data and increasing electronic commerce in Mexico. Since the creation of the Trustmark, the Association of Internet MX has participated in various forums of the Information Privacy Subgroup, belonging to the APEC Electronic Commerce Management Group.

In this forum, the APEC Data Privacy Pathfinder project was created, which has developed a system in the APEC region, which aims to ensure the responsible flow of personal information for the protection of consumers, while facilitating access to businesses. and the benefits of electronic commerce; This system was called The Cross Border Privacy Rules System (CBPRS). In 2007 the Association of Internet MX joined the World Trustmark Alliance (WTA), which brings together various providers of Trustmark at an international level. This international alliance aims to contribute to the development and promotion of electronic commerce, online transactions and the resolution of disputes between online businesses, recognized by each member, and their users. The WTA's member countries are the Philippines, the United States, Japan, Argentina, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, France, Malta and Poland.

DELIVERY PLATFORMS IN THE MEXICAN ECONOMY

Research by the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE) and the AIMX shows that the arrival of digital delivery platforms has generated important benefits in the Mexican economy:

1. Increased generation of wealth (value added) in the restaurant sector;

2. Reduction of transaction costs for affiliated restaurants and final consumers;

3. Sustained increase in the number of couriers, with flexibility of schedules and an average income above the average income of the total employed in the economy;

4. Less contagions, hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19; and,

5. Lower use of automobiles, which leads to greenhouse gas emissions, in particular CO2.

This shows that digital platforms play a key role during the economic recovery of Mexico.

IIJ-UNAM-AIMX Partnership

Since its foundation, the Law Research Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, has been a lighthouse for the understanding of legal phenomena and the development of legal resources for public entities, companies, international organizations, and civil society. As a strategic decision, the academic products developed by public universities such as our institution, must be distinguished by their technical accuracy, political impartiality, and social impact.

The use of digital technologies in all areas is increasing at an unprecedented rate. There are also multiple gaps in the understanding of their social effects and the challenges presented by these new technologies. Our partnership with AIMX addresses this critical area through the development of research materials, legal education and knowledge sharing that focus on national and global challenges in the digital environment.
